Kohli wicket today video: James Anderson sends back Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli on successive deliveries at Trent Bridge
Virat Kohli wicket today: The Indian captain registered a golden duck as India are in the middle of a potential batting collapse.
During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England in Nottingham, veteran England pacer James Anderson brought back his team into the match by dismissing Cheteshwar Pujara (4) and Virat Kohli (0) on successive deliveries.
Not losing a wicket for the first 97 runs, India lost one right before the lunch break in the form of Rohit Sharma (36). In what was his second over of the afternoon session, Anderson finally picked his first wicket of the match after bowling 10 wicket-less overs.
A master of swing especially in home conditions, Anderson sent back Pujara and Kohli to register identical dismissals at Trent Bridge. Wanting to defend Anderson, both the batsmen were found wanting after the ball left them after inducing an outside edge.
With bowling figures of 11-7-11-2 after a double-wicket over, 39-year old Anderson has ensured that India don’t run away with the advantage of a praiseworthy opening partnership. Known for his contest with Kohli, Anderson dismissing him on the first ball of the series sets a perfect scenario with nine more innings to go.
After England captain Joe Root (64) won the toss and chose to bat yesterday, the home team was bundled out for 183 in 65.4 overs on the back of Jasprit Bumrah registering bowling figures of 20.4-4-46-4.
