Damian Lillard is on the target list of many teams including the Philadelphia 76ers, but could CJ McCollum be a better fit for them?

Portland has been a playoff contender for each of Lillard and McCollum’s years together, but they clearly aren’t in the elite class of the NBA, a team who can genuinely stake a claim to the NBA title.

They’ve never made it to the final stage and only made the Conference Finals once in Lillard’s years. As a result, many have speculated that Lillard could be on the move, both for his and Portland’s sake (to start a rebuild). The 76ers are one potential team that could want to trade for him.

Colin Cowherd Believes CJ McCollum Would Be A Better Option Than Damian Lillard For The 76ers

The 76ers are among the elite teams in the Eastern Conference. They finished as the number one seed last year, and they were a genuine threat to the make the Finals.

Things didn’t exactly work out as the Atlanta Hawks surprisngly eliminated them in the second round, but they should be back in contention next year. Adding a third star or superstar would do wonders for them.

While the 76ers may want Dame, there could be another Portland star that might fit better in their scheme. CJ McCollum is the next biggest asset the Trail Blazers have, and if they want to rebuild, they may want to still focus on keeping Dame around while building a better team around him.

McCollum and Dame form one of the best backcourts in the league, but the Trailblazers want more than what they’ve been able to produce. So, could McCollum to the 76ers work better than Dame? Colin Cowherd believes so.

It’l be interesting to see what direction Philadelphia goes in, but either way, they would be breaking up the Simmons-Joel Embiid connection, perhaps for the better in hopes of making it over the hump finally.
