“You slow down Stephen Curry the same way you slow me down… You can’t”: When LeBron James gave the Warriors star the best possible compliment
A throwback to when the then Cavs’ superstar LeBron James called Stephen Curry unstoppable and showered him with praise before the NBA Finals
The NBA is full of talented people, who have worked their way to get where they are today. They’re far better than any average man at their craft, and hence they get a chance to play in the most prestigious league for the sport. Out of these talented people, some stand out and shine more than the rest. These players go down as legends of the game.
Two such players are LeBron James and Stephen Curry. While everyone tries to create a narrative about the animosity between the two, the truth is, both the stars have a ton of respect for each other. After having faced off in four straight finals, the two stars also know each others’ game very well.
LeBron James gave Stephen Curry the ultimate compliment
Back in 2015, LeBron James had just made his way back to Cleveland after 4 years in Miami. Along with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, LeBron carried the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals. Just before the Finals started, LBJ was asked about their upcoming opponents – the Golden State Warriors. With Stephen Curry at the helm, the Warriors were a young squad, hungry to prove their worth.
One of the questions asked was how does one stop Stephen Curry. James had a slick reply, as he said, “Just like you slow me down. You can’t.”

James was right, as Curry was absolutely sensational in the Finals. He averaged 26 points and 6.3 assists as he led the Warriors to their first championship in 40 years. The rest, as we all know, is history.
