“Did the Warriors announcer just call Ben Simmons a top 7 player in the NBA?”: NBA fans react to the Sixers star being praised at Summer League amidst trade rumors
A Warriors announcer, at Summer League, calls Ben Simmons a top 7-8 player in the NBA and NBA fans aren’t pleased with this assessment.
Ben Simmons has been the centerpiece of all trade rumors that the trade rumor mill has been churning out during this 2021 offseason. Following his abysmal outing in the Playoffs against the Atlanta Hawks, the Sixers made Simmons available for trade. This led to a cascading effect which now, according to reports, resulted in communication being cut off between Ben and the Sixers.
It’s quite clear that Ben Simmons will not be on the Philadelphia 76ers roster for long. Whether this mean he’ll be traded prior to pre-seasons or if Daryl Morey waits it out during the regular season, remains to be seen. It is obvious however, that Philly fans are fed up with the former number one overall pick and will not show him any love if he were to suit up for them.
Amidst this debacle, a moment involving the Sixers star took place at Summer League last night that has NBA fans scratching their heads.
Ben Simmons gets called a top 7 player by a Warriors announcer at Summer League.
During an SL game between the Warriors and the Pelicans, the former’s announcer, Fran Fraschilla, claimed that Ben Simmons is a top 7 or top 8 player in the NBA today. Ranking players who play different positions is always tough but quite nearly the entirety of the NBA community can agree upon the fact that Ben is not a top7 player in the league.
Fans on social media emphatically showed their disproval over the statement as they believe it to simply, not be true.
did this announcer say ben simmons is a top 7-8 player in the league???? huh??

NBA summer league broadcast said Ben Simmons is one of the top 7-8 players in the league TODAY 😂 they’re seriously trying to push the Simmons to GSW narrative smh

Don’t get it twisted: Ben Simmons is a great player. He’s a menace on the defensive end of the floor and can guard players from 1-5. He is also one of the biggest transition threats the league has to offer, both in terms of getting to the cup or finding open teammates flaring to the corners.
His half-court game however, was exposed during the biggest moments of the Playoffs, leading to the eventual downfall that Philly suffered. He most certainly is not a top 7 player in the NBA and frankly, isn’t close to being in that conversation any time soon.
