WATCH: Virat Kohli survives controversial DRS call

Virat Kohli has survived in probably one of the most controversial DRS reversals of recent times.

Rohit Sharma continued his woeful form, nicking one to the keeper off Rabada’s bowling. Virat Kohli then walked in and we had a tremendous battle on the cards, with Rabada cranking it up during his first over.

Rabada got one to jag back a bit, and with Kohli already shuffling across his stumps, Kohli was trapped right in front, with Ian Gould raising his finger.

Kohli seemed very much in line, but being India’s best batsman, he went for the review, after much deliberation with Shikhar Dhawan.

The DRS was called into play and snickometer came to the rescue of Kohli, detecting a very, very faint edge that caused a spike on the snickometer, saving Kohli in the most unusual of circumstances.

Unusual because Kohli did not go for the review immediately after being given out and had he hit the ball, he would have immediately realised it.

Maybe it was his excessive shuffling that caused him to not realise that faint edge.

Match Situation

Aiden Markram won the toss at Cape Town and decided to put India into bat on what seemed like a good enough Newlands batting surface.

Virat Kohli wanted to bat first anyway, as he felt that India needed to change things a bit for this ODI. He also felt that the Indian seamers could get a little extra off the pitch with the lights on.

The Indian wrist spinners have run havoc in the first two ODI’s and the Indian skipper felt that Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav could get more out of the surface during the 2nd innings.

With Kohli surviving that DRS call, India are now in a bit of a rebuilding phase after losing Rohit Sharma early on in the innings.

Kohli and Dhawan would be hoping to string a strong partnership together in order to take India to something in excess of 300 on this good batting surface.
