Real Madrid sign Brazilian prodigy Rodrigo
The 18-year old will go into Castilla squad (B team) after signing for Real Madrid.
European champions Real Madrid have completed the signing of Brazilian starlet Rodrigo Rodriguez. The attacker will join the Real Madrid Castilla squad, which plays in the second tier of Spanish football.
“It’s a dream to be able to pull on the shirt of the biggest club in the world,” Rodrigo said.
Rodrigo previously played for Brazilian club Gremio Novorizontino. The Brazilian has signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid.
“I’m sure that I’m in the best place possible to develop as a player. I hope I can give the fans plenty to shout about and help the side win trophies,” AS quoted Rodrigo as saying.
According to AS, Novorizontino president Genilson da Rocha Santos confirmed that Rodrigo had travelled to Real Madrid for a medical with the club.
AS reports that Rodrigo impressed the Real Madrid scouts during his performance in an U-17 tournament, while on loan at Palmeiras.
“Rodrigo is one of the most talented players of his generation in world football, and [at Real] he’ll be in a set-up where he will be able to kick on even more as a footballer,” said Rodrigo’s representative Edu Schimidt.
The Brazilian attacker made his professional debut in Campeonato Paulista game against Santos.

Real Madrid recently lifted the Champions League trophy for the third consecutive time when they beat Liverpool 3-1 in the final. However, the Los Blancos were hit by controversy soon after the game when their two star players, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo hinted at leaving the club in the summer.
While Bale demanded more playing time, Ronaldo insisted that he will decide on his future “within a week.”
