Shakib Al Hasan 5 wickets ODI full list: Which bowler has most ODI wickets for Bangladesh?
Former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has run through the Indian batting lineup in the ongoing first of a three-match ODI series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.
Shakib, 35, registered a fourth ODI five-wicket haul to turn the tables not once but twice in the Indian innings. Introduced into the attack right after the first powerplay, Shakib picked a couple of wickets in his first over itself to put an end in front the Indian top-order.
It was on the second delivery that he bowled that Shakib sent India captain Rohit Sharma (27) back to the pavilion. Deceiving Sharma with lack of turn, Shakib deceived former India captain Virat Kohli (9) in flight before being assisted by captain Liton Das at cover.
Shakib, who first brought a budding Sharma-Kohli partnership to a culmination, once again emerged as a partnership-breaker after dismissing India all-rounder Washington Sundar (19) in the 33rd over. Sundar, who had no one but himself to blame for trying to play a reverse sweep off Shakib, walked back after a 60-run fifth-wicket partnership was broken by the left-arm spinner.
In his following over, Shakib proved to be too good for the likes of Shardul Thakur (2) and Deepak Chahar (0) as both of them looked clueless in front of an orthodox ball and an arm ball respectively. Shakib, who became only the second left-arm spinner to pick an ODI five-wicket haul against India, eventually managed to register best ODI bowling figures for a left-arm spinner against this opposition.
