“Adidas Dropped Kanye West but Wanna Sign Kyrie Irving?”: NBA Twitter Points Out ‘Hypocrisy’ as Shoe Brand Approaches Nets’ Star

Only a month ago, Kyrie Irving was in troubled waters. His social media post sharing a supposedly anti-semitic film landed him in big-big trouble. The Brooklyn Nets suspended their star for at least 5 games after a strange interview. The main issue with Kyrie was that the press and the Nets assumed he had refused to apologize for being anti-semitic.

However, as soon as Brooklyn announced their decision, Irving took to his Instagram and shared a heartfelt apology. He was met with an overly positive reaction. Even LeBron James, who had previously condemned Kyrie Irving’s message, seemed eager to defend his former teammate.

However, even as the NBA readied to allow Irving to return to the league, Nike cut off its tie with the stars. Now, though, it seems, Adidas and Puma are trying to take advantage of the situation and sign Uncle Drew.

However, the NBA community is amused by Adidas. After all, they cut off ties with Kanye West for his anti-semitic comments.

NBA community reacts to Adidas chasing Kyrie Irving

After reports surfaced that Adidas is chasing Uncle Drew, NBA Twitter was left in splits. Most fans called out the brand for its hypocrisy. The reason was simple, Adidas had severed relations with Kanye West for his anti-semitic remarks. But they still want to sign an athlete marred by a similar controversy.

 Unlike Kanye West, Irving apologized

Even as fans are laughing at Adidas for dropping Kanye and choosing Kyrie Irving, there is a clear reason why the brand is doing so. Though both celebrities were pulled down into similar controversies, there is a major difference.

Kyrie, unlike Ye, apologized. Just by taking to his social media and apologizing to all those he had hurt and taking the time to explain his intentions and acknowledge his ignorance, Kyrie settled the score. It was definitely a lot more than West had done after his offensive statements.
