Why is Luka Doncic Not Playing Tonight vs the Cavaliers?
The Dallas Mavericks have had a shaky time as of late. They are 6-4 in their last ten games. However, playing the Portland Trailblazers at home last night, the Mavericks silenced a lot of doubts. Taking the visitors down 130-110, the Mavs were led by Luka Doncic and his 33-point effort.
The Slovenian sensation is now averaging 33 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 8.7 assists so far this season. While his numbers have been incredible throughout this season, the team’s performance has led to Luka’s rank on the MVP ladder to fall. While he was on the 3rd spot last week, he’s now tied for the 6th spot along with Pelicans’ Zion Williamson.
With the Mavs headed on the road, many fans wonder why Luka Doncic isn’t suiting up tonight.
Why is Luka Doncic OUT against the Cavaliers?
The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the hottest young teams in the NBA. After putting an impressive display last season, they’ve bolstered their talent this year by adding Donovan Mitchell. They currently sit on the 3rd spot in the East with a 19-11 record.
With the Mavericks making their way to Cleveland, many wonder why Luka Doncic is sitting this contest out. According to the team’s injury report, Doncic is dealing with a right quad strain that sidelined him for tonight’s contest.
Spencer Dinwiddie (right knee, injury recovery), Luka Dončić (right quad strain), Josh Green (right elbow sprain), Maxi Kleber (right hamstring tear) and Dwight Powell (left thigh contusion) will all miss tonight’s game in Cleveland.

However, we all know that this might just be an assigned rest on the second half of a back-to-back. We’ll have to see how Christain Wood steps up in the absence of all these players.
