Rohit Sharma ruled out: Will Indian captain play India vs Bangladesh 2nd test in Mirpur?
After winning the 1st test against Bangladesh in Chattogram, the Indian team will now have their eyes set on the 2nd test in Mirpur starting Thursday. After missing the 1st test in Chattogram, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was said to be fit for the 2nd test match.
Rohit was forced to miss the 1st test of the series due to a thumb injury he suffered in the 2nd ODI. He was fielding in the slips and got injured while trying to catch the ball. After the match, he revealed that he suffered dislocations in his thumb and got some stitches as well.
Rohit then travelled to Mumbai and missed the 3rd ODI of the series as well. Under the captaincy of KL Rahul, India won the first test easily, where Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara starred with the bat and Kuldeep Yadav won the Man of the Match trophy for his excellent contribution with both bat and the ball.
Rohit Sharma ruled out
According to Cricbuzz, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the 2nd test against Bangladesh starting December 22. Rohit travelled to India after getting injured in the 2nd ODI, and there were reports that he will be able to play in the 2nd test in Mirpur, but he is now set to miss the game.
The injury of Rohit is not very serious, but the Indian management has decided against taking the risk of playing him. India’s home season is set to start after this series, where they will host Sri Lanka, New Zealand and Australia in different formats of the game.
In the absence of Rohit, KL Rahul will continue to lead the side. Rohit’s injury has certainly saved the Indian team from facing a difficult selection dilemma as Shubman Gill scored a brilliant century in the last game, and it would have been really harsh on the youngster to get dropped despite playing so well in the Chattogram.
