Bills announcer John Murphy suffers stroke as Damar Hamlin recovers from freak accident on field
The Bills can’t seem to catch a break as it was recently announced that announcer John Murphy suffered a stroke last week. This comes as news of Damar Hamlin’s recovery progresses.
Buffalo is in a weird place right now as a football team. In a massive game against the Cincinnati Bengals, a strong hit to the chest knocked safety, Damar Hamlin, out of the game.
On initial glance, it didn’t seem like Hamlin had suffered a massive hit, but as he got up, Hamlin collapsed immediately. It was a scary sight and first responders rushed to take care of Hamlin.
They administered CPR for several minutes as players and fans stood horrified at the sight. Harman was taken to a hospital quickly as the NFL promptly made the decision to postpone, and eventually cancel the game.
This video of fans coming together and saying The Lord’s Prayer at the Bengals stadium last night may be one of the most powerful things I’ve ever seen.
WOW.
Prayers up for Damar Hamlin 🙏 pic.twitter.com/hxSSoGyNa0

Bills announcer John Murphy had suffered stroke prior to Damar Hamlin incident
While Hamlin is now in recovery and has been able to FaceTime his teammates and breathe with less support, it was also revealed that Bills announcer John Murphy had suffered a stroke before the Bills Bengals game.
Before the game, it was reported that Murphy was “under the weather” and would not be able to commentate the game.
“John Murphy suffered a stroke last weekend,” his family said in a statement. “He is recovering at home with his family and making progress every day.
“John and the Murphy family are grateful for the excellent care by the staff and doctors at Buffalo General Medical Center. We appreciate everyone’s support.”
It’s a great thing to hear, especially after Hamlin’s news. The role of the medical staff in the NFL is ever so valuable, and it’s showing more and more every day.
