What Time Does the NFL Draft Start? Date, Location, & Streaming Details
The highly anticipated NFL Draft 2023 is just a few days away from its commencement, and fans have already begun hustling to find out more about the event. After a successful event in Las Vegas last year, the draft ceremony will be held in Kansas City for the first time.
The Super Bowl-winning city will see a star-studded draft class this year, especially since the quarterback stock will hit the roof. This year, some of the most phenomenal talents are out of college and expected to hit the NFL market, and teams will be eagerly waiting to add these prospects as early as possible.
When and where can fans watch the NFL Draft 2023?
To some extent, the NFL drafts of 2022 and 2023 are somewhat similar, other than the venue and some broadcasting partners. The event will kick off in Kansas City on Thursday, April 27. Their event will comprise seven rounds in total, with over 259 picks destined to enter the league in a span of three days.
Per The Sporting News, the first round will begin on opening night at 8:00 pm ET. The second and third rounds will happen on the next day, which is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm. The remaining rounds, four, five, six, and seven, will begin on April 29 at 12 pm ET.
Fans will have the opportunity to physically visit the venue or stream it online, watching from the comfort of their homes. Some of the prominent broadcasters include ABC, ESPN, and the NFL Network. Meanwhile, NFL followers can stream the event on ESPN, NFL apps, and ESPN+. Viewers from Canada can switch to DAZN in order to watch it live.
Potential prospects to go off the board on day one
This year, the first round will have only 31 picks because the Dolphins were punished for misconduct and forfeited their pick. They were allegedly trying to recruit Sean Payton and Tom Brady, causing a stir in the entire NFL fraternity.
Among the 31 available picks, the Panthers will have their opportunity to make the first call. They snagged the first-overall pick after executing a blockbuster trade with the Chicago Bears this offseason.
Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud and Alabama product Bruce Young are speculated to compete for the first overall spot. The Panthers might choose anyone between them. Later on, the athletic Mozart Anthony Richardson will hit the top 10 list, followed by Will Anderson, Jalen Carter, Tyree Wilson, and Christian Gonzalez, among others.
