Lamar Jackson Drops a Bomb on Ravens Fans Amid Contract Extension Controversy
The Baltimore Ravens were in action Sunday night, where they played their wild-card game against their division counterparts, The Cincinnati Bengals. The Ravens faced a heartbreaking loss and Ravens fans might be up for another heartbreak. Lamar Jackson may or may not have hinted at a potential exit this offseason.
The two-time Pro Bowl athlete and one-time NFL MVP, Jackson was not in action on Sunday. Having led the Ravens to a successful campaign in 2022, the Ravens’ QB was sidelined with a knee injury.
Jackson suffered this injury against the Broncos in the first week of December. This was a PCL injury which he termed as a grade 2 sprain and posted about it on social media. As a result, he didn’t even travel with his team for their wild-card clash in Cincinnati.
Until picking up his injury, Jackson showed hints of his 2019 MVP-winning self. He started the year on a high both on the field and in the air. He not only was throwing the pig skin like a dime for his teammates, but he was also leading the Ravens for rushing yards for a very long time.
In the 2022 season, Jackson has recorded 17 touchdowns for 7 picks with an overall 62% pass completion rate. He even finished with 2242 yards in just his 12 appearances this season. If not for the slight dip in form and being sidelined due to injury, Jackson was on song for another MVP accolade.
Lamar Jackson leaves fans thinking
As soon as the heartbreaking news of the Ravens’ exit fell through, Jackson dropped another bomb on fans. He took to his Instagram story to make a statement. “When you have something good, you don’t play with it. You don’t take chances losing it. You don’t neglect it. When you have something good, you pour into it. You appreciate it. Because when you take care of something good, that good thing takes care of you too.” read the post.

Reportedly, the guaranteed money has kept Jackson from signing a renewal with the Ravens, With fans urging the Ravens’ front office to splurge on their MVP, they offered him a six-year contract last summer that involved around $133 million in guaranteed money.
They will probably have to now break the bank to keep him in Baltimore. However, this off season for Jackson will definitely bring him offers he wont be able to refuse.
