Why is Nikola Jokic Not Playing Tonight vs Bucks?

Seeing Nikola Jokic is as today, it’s easy to forget where he started. A 2-time MVP, Jokic began his career as the 41st overall pick. And now, he is on the brink of winning his third Michael Jordan trophy. The Serbian is the greatest example of how draft pick number never defines where your career is headed.

After being drafted in 2014, Jokic then joined the league a season later in 2015. He signed the contract with Denver only after he proved his worth in the Summer League.

In contrast, today, Jokic is the most important asset for the team. In just his 8th season, he is already one of the greatest to ever play for the team. Unfortunately for them, he will not be able to add his contributions to the upcoming game.

Nikola Jokic ruled OUT for Wednesday night

With the Bucks as their upcoming opponents, the Nuggets definitely needed the Joker’s help. However, the latest reports indicate he will not make an appearance.  For Denver, this essentially means facing one of the toughest teams in the league without their best player.

For Denver, this will not be the easiest matchup. In addition to Jokic, Michael Porter Jr., Kentavious Caldwell Pope, and Jamal Murray will also miss the game. This means, only one of their regular starters will be on the court today against Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co.

Although great at it, Nikola Jokic is not just a good big man for his franchise. We agree that his paint presence is one of the most formidable in the league but it is his exceptional playmaking that sets him apart from the competition.

Meaning, even if you find a way to shut down or double-team Jokic, he will still find an open man even if they were on the other end of the court. Tonight, this is exactly what will be missing from Denver’s game.
