Federer wears Uniqlo outfit while stepping into court for the first round

Roger Federer begins his title-defence at Wimbledon today, where he meets Dusan Lajovic.

The Swiss tennis star will look to defend his Wimbledon title, as he plays his first round of the Championships against Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic. However, the supporters were in for a shock as Federer entered the court, but not how everyone is accustomed to see him.

Roger Federer came out on the court, wearing the UNIQLO jacket, thus announcing his ten-year deal with the clothing outfit.

Federer’s deal with Nike expired in March this year, and there was speculation that he would not be renewing his deal with the company.

According to reports, Federer’s new UNIQLO outfit was designed by artistic director Christophe Lemaire.

“I am deeply committed to tennis and to winning championships,” Federer said in a statement released seconds after he walked on court for his first-round clash with Dusan Lajovic.

“But like UNIQLO, I also have a great love for life, culture and humanity. We share a strong passion to have a positive impact on the world around us and looking forward to combining our creative endeavours,” the statement read.

Naturally, the fans were stunned to see Federer not donning the traditional ‘RF’ logo while entering the court on Wimbledon, and took to Twitter to express their shock.
