WATCH: Hardik Pandya celebrates Rohit Sharma’s hundred before him
Swashbuckling Indian opener, Rohit Sharma, brought up his 3rd T20I century in the deciding T20I against England, helping India chase a target of 199 at Bristol.
With India having won the 1st T20I at Old Trafford in Manchester, England leveled the series in the 2nd T20I at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff. This made up for a much-anticipated deciding T20I at Bristol, where India won the toss and put England to bat first.
England put up a strong total of 198 for 9 on the board, with Jason Roy top-scoring with 67, while Hardik Pandya took 4 wickets for 38. With 199 to chase, India lost Shikhar Dhawan early, but that did not stop Rohit Sharma on the other hand.
The Mumbaikar looked in fine nick and went on to score 11 fours and 5 maximums in his 56-ball 100, making him the 2nd batsman in history to score three T20I tons after Colin Munro.
Rohit Sharma played brilliantly with a lot of authority, and brought up his century in the penultimate over, with Hardik Pandya on the other end.
As Rohit took a single off a dab towards third man to complete his century, Hardik Pandya was seen performing a celebratory jump at the other end, even before Rohit celebrated his own achievement. Rohit then acknowledged the crowd by raising his bat, before Pandya hit a six two balls later to finish the game.
This shows the level of optimism and team-work in Virat Kohli’s men, with the squad gelling together perfectly.
India’s 3-match ODI series against England begins on 12th July, with the 1st ODI at Trent Bridge.
