How Many Times Have CSK Won IPL: Chennai Super Kings’ Season Wise IPL Performance List
Each time people have tried getting into MS Dhoni’s head, they have come out scratching their own. Yet, with the imminent IPL season returning back with its usual home-away format after three years, this might well turn out to be his final IPL season with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the capacity of a player.
The most successful franchise in terms of social media fan following and with respect to playoffs/semi-final appearances as well, Dhoni‘s CSK will take on the previous season champions Gujarat Titans tomorrow, in the IPL 2023 opening match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Dhoni dons the captaincy hat for the entire season, or finally passes the baton back to allrounder Ravindra Jadeja as he did the last year.
Or, will he trust in someone like a Ruturaj Gaikwad, or England’s Test captain and latest recruit in Ben Stokes? Only time will tell.
How Many Times Have CSK Won IPL
CSK have won the IPL title four times during the years 2008, 2010, 2018, and 2021. The most close-to-the-heart title for skipper Dhoni and the entire franchise was perhaps the one they lifted in 2018, when they had made a return back to the league after suffering a two-year ban.
They are the most successful franchise when it comes to most appearances in the playoffs or the knock-out games. Across the 15 complete seasons so far, they have reached the Playoffs/semi-finals a total of 11 times.
In fact, apart from the 2020 season (when they finished seventh) and the previous season (when they finished ninth), the ‘Yellow Army’ had made it through to the knock-out stage across each of the 13 editions they participated in.
