Wayne Parnell Retirement: Is Reece Topley’s Replacement at RCB Retired from International Cricket?
Royal Challengers Bangalore have signed South African all-rounder Wayne Parnell for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023 season. He has been drafted as a replacement player for English pacer Reece Topley, who injured his shoulder during the match between RCB and Mumbai Indians in Bengaluru.
Ahead of the match between RCB and Kolkata Knight Riders, Bangalore’s head coach Sanjay Bangar confirmed that Topley will be missing the rest of the tournament. Apart from Topley, batter Rajat Patidar has also been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury. Patidar was brilliant for RCB last season, but he could not play a single match this time around.
Karnataka’s Vyshak Vinay Kumar has been named the replacement player for Patidar. RCB’s luck with injuries has not been great this season. Earlier, England’s all-rounder Will Jacks also got injured, and he was replaced by New Zealand’s all-rounder Michael Bracewell.

Wayne Parnell Retirement
Just like Topley, Parnell is also a left-arm pacer, and he can be a great addition to the side. Apart from his bowling, Parnell has the ability to score runs with the bat as well. Talking about Parnell’s international status, he is not retired yet, and he recently played in the ODI and T20I series against West Indies in March.
After playing in ICC Champions Trophy in 2017, Parnell signed a Kolpak deal with Worcestershire in County Circuit. Because of this deal, he was barred from playing International cricket for South Africa. In 2021, his deal ended, and he made his international return.
