Force India release statement after being rescued by Lawrence Stroll
Force India are in the clear now, having been rescued by a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll.
The team was put under administration early last week when legal proceedings were initiated by Sergio Perez and Mercedes.
While at first it seemed that Perez was the villain in the entire operation, the driver’s statements proved that he infact was the messiah, who took the high road to save 405 Force India jobs.
Lawrence Stroll has always been in line to take over Force India and the inevitable has finally happened.
Force India’s chief operating officer, Otmar Szafnauer has revealed the anxiety in the Force India camp during the days of administration.
“Once we went into administration, there were a couple that have been there and didn’t come out,” Szafnauer said as quoted Motorsport.com.
“So, there is a lot of trepidation amongst all the team members, and a lot of anxiety, because we didn’t know where it was going to go.
“It’s a huge relief to know there’s a future for the team. We’ll be able to continue as a normal Formula 1 team.” he added.
Szafnauer played a massive role in dealing with investors and the administrators and was one of the chief architects in helping the deal go through.
However, Szafnauer is not certain of keeping his position, but hopes that the senior management keeps its place.
“It’s early days,” he said.
“I would hope they would keep the senior management on.
“This just happened, I haven’t sat down with the new owners to say ‘what do you want to do?’” he added.
He also gave a little comment about the driver situation for next year, especially with Stroll’s involvement now.
“In the near future, we’ll have all those conversations,” he said.
“But that’s looking forwards, not looking backwards.” he concluded.
