Amid Deshaun Watson’s Alleged S*xual Misconduct Case, Another Cleveland Star Gets Arrested for Assault
For the last couple of days, Deshaun Watson has been catching headlines for his alleged s*xual misconduct. He was summoned by the Texas court after one of the accusers filed a recent lawsuit against the quarterback. Amid this tense situation, another star from the Browns fraternity got arrested.
Defensive Tackle Perrion Winfrey was caught under the legal radar after he allegedly broke into a physical misdemeanor with a family member. The woman subsequently filed a case and dragged him into court.
Winfrey gets arrested for assault
It is indeed a hard time for the Browns fraternity, having lost two of its key members. While the signal-caller, Deshaun Watson, happened to cause a headache, another entity has now joined that list. The incident happened on Monday, when Winfrey allegedly grabbed the hand of a woman he was dating. It caused her “bodily injury’, per the records from Harris County.
The Oklahoma product was arrested the same evening at 7:00 pm on account of minor assault charges. He was later released after signing a security bond for $1000 and being told not to have any contact with the accuser.
The woman blamed the tackle for “unlawfully, intentionally, and knowingly” causing her injuries. As soon as the news broke out, media outlets approached the Browns’ management for a response. The spokesperson for the fraternity dodged this question, stating that they were aware of the situation and were busy gathering more information in this regard, per ESPN.
Winfrey happens to be a second-year prospect for the team after getting selected in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL draft. He played in 13 games last season with a record of 22 tackles. Although he missed two games, the youngster might appear for the voluntary training camps this offseason.
Deshaun Watson gets entangled in more problems
The Clemson product lost two precious seasons of his NFL career after a dozen women accused the quarterback of indulging in s*xual misconduct. Around 25 women came forward, and 23 have been settled. Per Clutch Points, two of them still remain a hot subject, and the recent ones have asked the Texas court for Watson’s deposition.
Likewise, on April 10, the court ordered the quarterback to sit in for a deposition and cooperate with the complainant. The incident supposedly happened in December 2020.
Another case in this context is expected to go to trial this spring unless the plaintiff reaches an out-of-court settlement. Despite all these legal woes, Watson vowed to remain calm.
“I’m approaching it every day just with a smile on my face and just being able to let my attorneys and my lawyers deal with that situation,” Watson said in an interview. As this is a developing story, further details are yet to arrive.
