Arjun Tendulkar IPL Debut: Twitter Reactions on Sachin Tendulkar’s Son Playing First Match for Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar‘s son Arjun Tendulkar has been handed an Indian Premier League debut by Mumbai Indians in their fifth IPL 2023 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium today.

Arjun, who has been with the franchise since 2021, warmed the bench for more than two seasons before getting a match. In addition to being handed a debut, the 23-year old player was also handed the new ball. A decent start to this IPL career saw him giving away only five runs in his first over.

Other than Tendulkar, Indians also included a debutant in uncapped South Africa pacer Duan Jansen, twin brother of Marco Jansen. The two left-arm pacers replaced captain Rohit Sharma and pacer Arshad Khan in the Playing XI. Sharma, however, could be seen batting as an Impact Player in the second innings.

Although Tendulkar had made his T20 debut for Mumbai a couple of years ago, he represents Goa in domestic cricket nowadays. With the most recent Indian domestic season been his first major season consisting of him playing matches across formats, Tendulkar would be hoping for an elongated run at MI.

As expected, several high-profile former Indian cricketers took to their respective social media platform to wish Arjun well ahead of his IPL debut.

Mumbai Indians Captain Today

With Rohit Sharma not playing a home match, Suryakumar Yadav is leading Mumbai on a Sunday afternoon. Therefore, technically, Tendulkar has made his IPL debut under Yadav. For the unversed, his T20 debut had also come under the same captain at Bandra Kurla Complex.
