Chris Paul vs Scott Foster Stats: What is CP3’s Record With Controversial Referee?
Chris Paul is undoubtedly one of the greatest point guards of all time. Drafted in 2005, CP3 has been wowing NBA fans with his superb ball handling and intricate playmaking for 18 seasons now. In that time, the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon has reeled in a ton of accolades.
He is a five-time assist leader, and six-time steals leader and has made several All-Star, All-Defensive, and All-NBA teams. However, all these awards came in the regular season. In terms of post-season form, the “Point God” has left a lot to be desired.
During his 18 years in the league, Paul has played 143 Playoff games and has come out with a record of 72-71. Quite an average performance, but when examined closely an interesting stat pops out. Notorious NBA referee Scott Foster has refereed 14 of CP3’s Playoff losses.
Chris Paul has a terrible record in games refereed by Scott Foster
Over the course of his career, Chris Paul has developed a reputation as a poor Playoff performer. The man has only made the NBA Finals once and has had only two appearances in the Conference Finals. Now, for a normal player that would be alright, but for one of CP3’s caliber it raises questions.
So, Why does Paul have such a bad Playoff record? Well, there are several arguments to be made. His style of play, team dynamics, and level of competition could point to his 72-71 record. However, another reason could be the NBA officials, in particular Scott Foster.
Ever since he entered the NBA, the Point God has historically had a bad rap with NBA official Scott Foster. The two have butted heads on several occasions. And, based on the records, it would seem as though Foster has it out for Paul. After all, he is 0-14 in the Playoffs in games officiated by the 56-year-old.

In other words, Scott Foster is undefeated when going up against CP3. And, the best part is he might get to extend that record. Seeing as he will be officiating Game 2 of the Phoenix Suns versus the Los Angeles Clippers.
Scott Foster has the chance to extend his record to 15-0 against CP3 in the Playoffs
The Phoenix Suns haven’t had the best start to the 2023 Playoffs. The franchise compromised its homecourt advantage, losing Game 1 to the Los Angeles Clippers. Well, things may get from bad to worse for the Suns as Game 2 will be officiated by referee Scott Foster. The man is known as the bane of Chris Paul. He has a ridiculous record of officiating 14 of Paul’s Playoff losses and now has the chance to extend it to 15.

It certainly is going to be an interesting game, as CP3 will be hoping he can pick up his first win in the Playoffs against Scott Foster.
