Jack Campbell NFL Draft 2023: Iowa State’s Star “Frog” Is Looking Set to Be a First-Round Pick at This Year’s Draft
Usually, when football players are asked to compare themselves to an animal, the answer is almost always the same. Lions, tigers, bulls, the lot. However, Iowa State’s linebacker Jack Campbell seems to have a different take on the entire question, comparing himself to a frog at this year’s Combine. Now, it seems he might just have hopped his way to the top of the draft list this year.
The 22-year-old has been consistently proving himself to be the top defensive lineman prospect for this year. Be it his performance with Iowa, or his Combine stats, he has definitely put himself on the radar of scouts and team owners. Added to that, there are a few teams who would love to have him as part of their roster.
Jack Campbell could be heading to the Buffalo Bills at this year’s draft
Jack Campbell seems to have impressed everyone with his abilities. In fact, many analysts predict him to be a first-round pick, and even call him the best linebacker prospect in this year’s draft. All this hype should have turned some heads, ideally, those looking for a solid linebacker. Introducing, the Buffalo Bills.
The Bills had to, unfortunately, part with their long-term linebacker project Tremaine Edmunds. With a spot open, and the current market not so attractive, the Bills could potentially swoop in and pick Campbell. Though they currently have the 27th pick, they might be able to find a favorable trade that lands them an earlier spot, if they deem it necessary.
Everything about Campbell just seems to scream “first-round pick”
Campbell may not be one of the favorites to be picked first in this year’s draft. However, getting drafted in the first round is not something everyone can brag about. Campbell surely can, according to CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso, who thinks there is no chance Campbell doesn’t get picked in the first round.
“The only knock I have on Campbell is that he has short 31 7/8-inch arms. Everything else about his game screams “first-round pick,” Trapasso says. It seems Campbell has the ingenuity and the mental awareness to quickly adapt to the situation at hand. No wonder he compared himself to a frog at the Combine, adaptable both on land and in water. Will he hop-fully find a team to play for this year?
