Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson Ridicule ‘Fashionista’ Charles Barkley for Man-Purse: “That Was a Mistake!”
With the Eastern Conference Finals finally underway, Inside the NBA is back on TV. Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith were gone for almost a week. Even though they spent a week away from our TVs, it looked like they missed no beat on their return. Tonight they made Kyle Lowry a very awkward guest as Shaq and Ernie chose to pick on ‘Fashionista’ Chuck for his outfit from 1992.
After the Heat took down the Celtics 123-116, Inside the NBA guys took over and were ready with their post-game show from the TD Garden. Their post-game show started with a tweet of someone re-discovering Chuck’s iconic outfit from the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. This had the guys picking on Charles.

The same picture was shown to these guys by their producer, and that was enough to get the guys riled up. Kyle Lowry was sitting awkwardly while Shaquille O’Neal and Ernie Johnson started picking on Chuck. As soon the image was displayed, we can hear Chuck say,
“That was a mistake. I was a little too overconfident. That was a hot thing for like a year. The man purse was a thing for a year!”
Shaq snapped back and said,
“No it was not!”
Ernie chipped it with,
“And you did it for a year and a half!”

This was an iconic wardrobe moment for Chuck. It’s been 31 years since the image was captured, yet it riles the crowd up every time it resurfaces. However, this wasn’t the only iconic moment for the fashionista.
Charles Barkley once wore a dress for a commercial
Endorsement deals are a big source of revenue for NBA players. The stars nowadays have humongous contracts which are alone to live a lavish life. However, the same wasn’t the case in the past. Stars relied on commercial money to keep up with their fancy needs.
In 2012, Charles Barkley lost 38 pounds in 3 months thanks to Weight Watchers. In turn, he starred in a commercial for them in drag, wearing a dress.
Hoping Chuck never changes and he keeps entertaining us the same way.
