Patrick Mahomes & LeBron James Once Bonded Over a “Cool Dad” Tweet, Rolled Out by the Super Excited QB While Playing With Daughter Sterling
Patrick Mahomes and LeBron James have established themselves as two of the biggest sporting icons the world has ever seen. While the two respected figures are known for playing different sports, one thing which united them and ultimately became a major reason behind their friendship is fatherhood.
Mahomes is a loving father of two children whom he shares with his high school sweetheart-turned-wife, Brittany Mahomes. He has a daughter named Sterling Skye Mahomes, and a son, Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes III. Whereas James has three children with his wife Savannah James named, LeBron ‘Bronny’ James Jr., Zhuri Nova, and Bryce Maximus. Back in 2021, the two champions bonded over how cool it is to be a father.
Patrick Mahomes’ “cool dad” Tweet received a response from King James
When Mahomes had his first daughter, he marveled at his experience of being a dad and taking care of a child. Hence, out of excitement he rolled out a tweet on which he received a reply from NBA superstar LeBron James.

Fans were ecstatic about the interaction between two highly popular athletes. Next day after the Tweet went viral, Patrick provided more details about his bond with LeBron during a radio interview.
“I’ve talked to him a couple of times and kind of built a little bit of a friendship there,” he explained, as per Hollywood Life. “I mean, obviously, I have a ton of respect for the guy, but it was kind of a spur-of-the-moment tweet. He has a couple sons and a daughter that are all great athletes and great people,” the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback added. “So I know it’s just a cool moment to be a dad and be able to see a little you growing up.”
Mahomes explained that he was having a wonderful time playing with his adorable daughter when he sent out the tweet to his fans.
Who has more titles between Mahomes and James?
King James was a high school prodigy who became the number one pick of the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. After that, he quickly made a name for himself and became a dominant force in the league after just one season. Patrick Mahomes, on the other hand, did not play in the NFL until he was 22 years old. He was selected as the 10th pick of the 2017 NFL draft by the Chiefs.

LeBron James won back-to-back MVP awards in 2009 and 2010. However, it was only in his ninth season in the NBA, when he won his first championship. In total, James has won 4 championships in his illustrious career. On the other hand, Mahomes was just 24 years old when he lifted his first championship title in 2020.

Patrick initially played behind Alex Smith because the chief wanted him to learn lessons from the former No. 1 pick and once he got into his groove, there was no looking back for Patrick. In just 6 seasons, the young gun has guided his team to three Super Bowls, winning two out of them despite facing several setbacks along the way. While LeBron has two championship titles more than Mahomes, one must keep in mind that Patrick still has a long way to go, so the possibilities are endless for the gunslinger.
However, one must also understand that James managed to stay consistent for two decades, and is still going strong. Whereas Patrick still needs to achieve a lot in his professional career in order to gain a similar stature as LeBron. It will be interesting to see how Patrick performs in the time to come.
