“Taahirah’s Nickname Is ‘Chexy'”: Shaquille O’Neal’s Abhorrently Questionable Pet Name For His Daughter Raises Eyebrows

Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most dominant players in NBA history. But, off the court, he’s more than just a league legend. He’s a businessman, analyst, and most importantly a family man. He shares a special relationship with his children and is incredibly close with his daughter Taahirah O’Neal. For whom he has a special nickname. And it is a rather weird one!

Shaq had Taahirah with Arnetta Yardbourgh and is his eldest child. So of course, he shares a particularly special bond with her. Not to say he treats any of his other children differently, but when it comes to Taahirah, he is especially goofy.

All you have to do is look at the nickname he has for her. A rather questionable but incredibly sweet nickname. The nickname is “Chexy” which he revealed in his book Shaq Talks Back.

The life of an NBA superstar is a hectic one. And, for Shaquille O’Neal, things were no different. He was constantly busy, whether it was balling on the court or working on his numerous entrepreneurial ventures. Nevertheless, Shaq always made time for important things.

More often than not, that was his family. Big Diesel was big on family and always made time for them. Despite his hectic lifestyle, he always made time for his children. And that was most true for his daughter Taahirah.

The big man loves his firstborn and even attended her graduation despite his jam-packed NBA schedule. But, that is the case for all his children whom he loves and cares for dearly. He even has special nicknames for them, and Taahirah’s is Chexy. Why such a weird nickname? Well, according to Shaq it’s baby talk for the word “sexy”. In his book, he said the following:

“I have nicknames for all my children. Shareef is “The Saga Continues,” for obvious reasons. Taahirah? I call her “Chexy” and “The Princess.” I know what you’re thinking. Chexy? One of my nieces is Chuty, which is baby talk for “cutey.” Chexy is baby talk for “sexy.” Trust me on this.”

He truly loves his kids and his family, although he isn’t married. And, the thing is he had no plans on getting married anytime soon. On account of all the women in his life.

Back in 2011, Shaquille O’Neal divorced his ex-wife Shaunie. It’s been 12 years now and despite his celebrity status, Shaq is yet to find another wife. But, he has his reasons.

To hear Shaq say it, he doesn’t need to get married because he already has four wives. His ex and his three daughters nag him just as much as Shaunie did.

Safe to say there are no late nights or parties in the O’Neal household with his three daughters around. But, given how much he loves them, The Big Aristotle probably doesn’t mind.
