Lewis Hamilton Makes Mega Announcement Following in the Footsteps of F1 Idol Ayrton Senna
Earlier last season, Apple announced a feature documentary on the legacy of Lewis Hamilton. However, with the troublesome season and his Apple Project with Brad Pitt, the news got lost in the noise. Now, Hamilton provides his updates on the exciting project.
The documentary for Apple TV+ will be made by filmmaker Matt Kay, who is known for his projects ‘Little Miss Sumo’ and ‘Over the Wall.’ Penni Thow will sit in the producer’s chair. Aside from these details, not much else has been disclosed about what one can expect from the documentary. Now, however, Hamilton has opened up about his vision for his mega project, as things begin to get serious.
Lewis Hamilton spills details on upcoming Apple TV+ documentary
Ahead of the Spanish GP, Hamilton delved into the details of his dream project, an honor only the greats are recognized with. Entering the league of Michael Jordan and Tom Brady, Hamilton looks at someone more important to him: Ayrton Senna.
Speaking to the press, Hamilton said, “I’m producing my documentary, along with Apple. It feels strange having a camera pointing around, but it’s really about my life, it’s about my career and the journey to where I am.”
Inspired by the McLaren legend, Hamilton was privileged to share his story. “With the hope of doing what Ayrton Senna’s documentary did for me as a kid. Maybe something new and fresh, hopefully, this will be able to do that for the next young kid.”

And that’s exactly what Hamilton’s journey has been about: inspiration. Whether it’s breaking the social boundaries within the sport or smashing records out of the park, Hamilton truly is a one-in-a-million prodigy; it’s important that all future generations know of him.
All the details we know so far about Hamilton’s passion project
The untitled Lewis Hamilton documentary will join Apple’s impressive lineup of nonfiction programs, which included the highly anticipated series: “They Call Me Magic”, which was released in April last year. Chronicling the extraordinary life of Magic Johnson surely sets the benchmark for Hamilton’s feature.

As quoted by the official press release: “Lewis succeeded in a sport where the odds were stacked against him but where his talent shone through, allowing him to dominate the sport for over a decade. Hamilton is currently the only Black driver to race in the Formula One series. He embraced what made him different and his rise to the top of his career has made him fiercely committed to using his platform to influence positive change for future generations.”
In line with Hamilton’s vision for his documentary, anticipation bubbles up and what could potentially be an award-winning feature.
