“Nothing is Guaranteed in the NFL”: Tom Brady Gives the Mantra for Success to Jets QB Aaron Rodgers Ahead of 2023 Season
Tom Brady has spent 23 years playing in the NFL. Naturally, one would assume that he, of all people, would know a thing or two about the game, and what it takes to win. Especially winning with a team you’ve just joined, a feat he achieved with the Buccaneers in 2021. Now retired, Tom is looking to pass on his knowledge to another NFL legend, Aaron Rodgers, as he makes his way to a new team.
Rodgers recently moved to New York to play for the Jets after spending 18 years with the Packers. Though he will be playing under former Packers’ offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett, there are many who believe A-Rod will find it a bit difficult to settle in with a new team so late in his career.
Tom Brady thinks anything is possible with Aaron Rodgers’ move to New York
In a recent interaction with Yahoo Sports, Tom Brady talked about what could possibly happen with Rodgers changing teams so late in his career. Unlike many, Brady seems to give Rodgers the benefit of the doubt, but also places an emphasis on the randomness of the NFL. The constant changes and the uncertainty that surrounds the league, makes predicting Rodgers’ future more difficult, according to TB12.
“I think it’s really an opportunity. I don’t think it’s– you know, everybody’s got their challenges at the beginning of the year. There’s a lot of change that happens in the NFL every year. Obviously, when quarterbacks change teams, certainly the way that Aaron did, there’s a lot of eyes. There’s a lot of expectation. But there’s players that change every year. Coaches change,” Brady says.
Although, as a few other analysts predict, TB12 feels that Rodgers’ familiarity with Hackett’s plays may just make the transition easier. Hackett was the Packers’ offensive coordinator from 2019 to 2021. Under him, Rodgers managed to win two back-to-back MVPs, averaging more than 4,000 yards a season. He even had his two best career completion percentages with Hackett.
“I think continuity in sports in general is very important. I think him choosing that organization and facilitating that trade could possibly allow him to be very successful. He’s familiar with the plays. Now he’s got to get used to the players, which shouldn’t take him a lot of time because he’s played with a lot of players over time,” Tom adds.
TB12 feels it would be unwise to bet against A-Rod and the Jets this season
Aaron Rodgers joining the Jets has been the highlight of this off-season. Though he may be approaching the end of his career, many believe he can still help the Jets put up a massive challenge to the rest of the conference, and fight for a playoff spot. One such believer is the legendary Tom Brady, who says it will be difficult to bet against A-Rod and the Jets.
Rodgers has a strong, young team. He even has a few former Packers teammates joining him in New York. However, they still have to contend with the Dolphins and the Bills in their own division. Not to forget, the Bengals and the Chiefs would be waiting for them in the conference. Will the Jets survive the regular season and make the playoffs?
