Haas lodge complaint with FIA against Force India
Haas has lodged a complaint against both Force India cars, as confirmed by the FIA. A meeting with the stewards is scheduled for 11 am tomorrow, wherein representatives from both teams will meet the FIA in order to discuss the entry of Racing Point Force India midway through the season, after Force India had gone into administration.
Now, the basis of the complaint as per Haas is that Racing Point Force India haven’t built the cars themselves, as per the present regulations.
The protest essentially is about how Racing Point Force India has not built the VJM11 itself.
Haas hasn’t really been on board with F1’s decision to allow Racing Point Force India to be part of the prize money distribution.
Now, Haas reportedly is looking for compensation for 2016 and 2017, when they did not receive money as per ‘column one’ structure. This was because Haas was a new constructor. But Racing Point Force India is part of the column one payment structure.
The compensation that Haas would receive would be $60 million.
“FIA confirmed protest by Haas against Force India. According to Haas Racing Point Force India hasn’t build their cars themselves as required by the regulation. In the end it’s a fight about $60m.” Tobi Gruner tweeted.
