WATCH: New York Knicks score on their own basket, take tanking to another level
New York Knicks have been subtly tanking their way to glory this season, after a disastrous start to the season ensured that a playoff berth could well be out of question.
Knicks are currently 15th on the table in the Eastern conference with a 12-48 record. They could very well finish in the bottom 3 spots, giving them a good 14% chance of getting the first draft pick in this year’s draft.
With 21 games left in the regular season, the Knicks are now taking tanking matters in their owns hands, well, quite literally.
In the game vs Spurs(that they ended up winning 130-118), Kevin Knox and Dennis Smith Jr. actually ended up scoring on their own basket, while rising together for a rebound.
While the move could(and should) have been a mistake, with Knicks at the bottom of the pile, tanking concerns were launched all over social media.
Coach Fizdale who has often cut a sorry figure on the sidelines this season, could only muster a smile when the ‘unfortunate incident’ transpired.

Zion Williamson should be the number 1 draft pick in this year’s draft and the young Duke prodigy is supposed to change the course of the team that he is drafted into.
A lot of NBA experts and former players have been quoted saying that he is the most impressive draft prospect since Michael Jordan.
New York Knicks have been working aggressively to build a strong team for next season, with free agents Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant topping their wish list.
If they are indeed able to draft Zion Williamson, he along with Kyrie and KD could help the Knicks to form a dynasty of their own in New York.
But for that to happen there is some time in the bank. The first part of the puzzle could be drafting in Zion Williamson and the Knicks are doing everything possible to ensure that that happens.
Twitter couldn’t resist calling out Knicks’ tanking attempt.
Zion is that good

If they’re scoring on any basket, it’s an improvement

Do you think this was deliberate or just a bad attempt at a rebound?
From the looks of it it seems like a bad attempt but when there is Zion Williamson up for grabs, you could expect the worst.
