Deion Sanders Left the Scene Swiftly, Avoiding His Ex-Wife Pilar as She Approached Sons Shedeur and Shilo During Senior Day Walk

Deion Sanders and Pilar Biggers went their separate ways in 2015 after a messy divorce. Since then, there has been an acrimonious vibe between the two. Even when son Shilo Sanders went under the knife for a forearm injury in September, Deion had refused to visit the health center until Pilar left. And much to Shilo’s dismay (and his brother Shedeur’s as well), what transpired during the brothers’ Senior Day Walk at Folsom Field on Saturday showed how the chasm between their parents has only deepened.

Shilo, 24, played his last college game (excluding post-season matchups) on Saturday against Oklahoma State. Shedeur, too, will declare for the 2025 NFL draft. So, the matchup, their last home game for the Colorado Buffaloes, was significant in every way possible.

And the two brothers had Deion beside them for the Senior Day walk. As the trio walked together toward the middle of the field, the atmosphere became electric, with the fans and players cheering them on.

However, when Pilar approached her two sons to exchange hugs and savor the moment, Deion quickly got out of sight of the cameras. He patted Shilo and Shedeur on the back, turned and left as soon as he saw his ex-wife. The moment was captured in Shilo’s latest YouTube video:

It seems Shilo and Shedeur had planned for Deion and Pilar to cross paths on the field during the Senior Day walk. A few minutes earlier in the video, the star safety can be heard saying that Shedeur got Pilar to come down from the stands and onto the field.

Then, the video cuts to Shilo saying it would be like “World War 3”, when Pilar and Deion walk together. Of course, he did not name his father, but the smile on his face was telling. Perhaps Shilo hoped his parents could set aside their differences for their big day.

“We’re going to try to do the impossible, man. My brother just got my mom from the stands cause on Senior Night, we didn’t know we had to walk. They not gonna (unfinished sentence)… That’s like World War III trying them (Deion and Pilar) to get to walk together,” said Shilo in the video.

Deion and Pilar were married for 14 years. As things headed toward a bitter ending, the head coach of the Buffaloes was accused of domestic violence during the divorce filing. The custody battle was even nastier.

Deion counter-sued his former wife for $2.2 million for defamation and won the case. Pilar was subsequently sentenced to seven days in Collin County Jail and lost custody of Shilo and Shedeur. However, she retained shared custody of Shelomi, their only daughter.

With all this history of bitterness, it was not a surprise to see how Deion and Pilar avoided each other on the field. A cordial relationship between them also seems impossible, at least not any time soon.
