“It’s Your Fault, Jerry Jones”: Skip Bayless “Throws Away” His Cowboys Gear Before Proudly Wearing a Jalen Hurts Jersey

Ever since the infamous “all in” comment from Dallas Cowboys owner, Jerry Jones, America’s team has been anything but. Having now witnessed their divisional rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders share the stage at the NFC Championship, fans and analysts alike are beginning to wake up to the fact that the Cowboys are simply unable to compete against the upper echelons of the NFL.

One analyst in particular, the ever-controversial Skip Bayless, is having a harder time than others with this realization. A lifelong Cowboys fan, the former FOX Sports analyst begrudgingly yet accurately predicted the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory prior to the beginning of the season.

“Howie Roseman… He won free agency, he won the draft, he had the greatest offseason that any GM has ever had and I finally gave up. I said, publicly, the Eagles are going to win the Super Bowl,” he had said.

His decades-long allegiance to the Cowboys seems to be shifting now to a team more poised to win. In celebration of the prediction, Bayless shared a mixed message.

Simultaneously thrilled by the clairvoyance of his Super Bowl pick and ashamed of the ever-slumping status of  Dallas, he’s now prepared to leave the Cowboys behind. While trading out his Brandon Aubrey jersey for a newly bought Jalen Hurts jersey, Bayless exclaimed –

“It has now come to this for me… This jersey, featuring a quarterback I have always loved, Jalen Hurts, and a team I have always hated, the freaking Philadelphia Eagles… It’s your fault Jerry Jones. You made me do this!”

Given Jones’ aforementioned comments, in addition to the recent failures of the team, Bayless’ change in attire represents a continuing shift in the fanbase’s sentiment. Whether the concerns are focused on the contract negotiations of Ezekiel Elliot, or the sheer lack of offensive weapons surrounding Dak Prescott, the voices calling for Jones to take a back seat continue to get louder.

In the defense of Dallas, this is not the first time that Bayless has pulled such a stunt. Following the Cowboys’ embarrassing loss at home to the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round of the 2023 playoffs, the former ESPN personality admitted to throwing “every last piece” of his Cowboys gear into the trash can.

With just two playoff wins in the last decade, the Cowboys are quickly being usurped by the Jayden Daniels-backed Commanders as the second-best team in the NFC East. Given Jones’ lack of urgency to provide Prescott with a competent running back or a second receiving option apart from CeeDee Lamb, it’s likely that the team will continue to falter.

Nevertheless, Jones and the rest of the Cowboys’ organization now turn their attention towards the 2025 regular season, where Dallas will hope to once again alternate the divisional crown with Philadelphia.
