Darby Allin and MJF reference CM Punk on AEW Dynamite

Darby Allin and MJF reference CM Punk on AEW Dynamite. The former WWE Star has been linked with the Tony Khan led promotion.

No one in AEW has outright confirmed it but there’s a strong believe that former WWE Champion CM Punk is on his way there. Those suspicions have just increased today after promos from AEW stars MJF and Darby Allin on tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

Darby called Punk out during a backstage interview. While he didn’t say his name, the way his promo was constructed, he may just have as well. MJF on the other hand, quoted Punk’s most infamous promo, the Pipebomb, in his promo on Chris Jericho tonight.

Darby cut a short promo on people who call themselves the greatest. He invited them to prove themselves in AEW even if they think they’re the best in the world. This is an obvious reference to CM Punk and everyone in the crowd reacted with loud cheers.

MJF on the other hand, cut a promo after his deathmatch victory over Nick Cage, starting with the sentence :

“As you lay there hopefully in more pain than you’ve ever been”

Those are the exact words Punk chose to start his promo with while addressing John Cena.

It could be a coincidence but we’re going to chalk this down to AEW conforming that they’ve signed CM Punk without saying that they’ve signed CM Punk.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
