A knock of 142* has laid a perfect platform for the WI team to forge together a victory. The new “West Indies Wall” has added his name to the great list of batsman who carried their bats. The WI names in the list are: Frank Worrell, Conrad Hunte, Desmond Haynes and Chris Gayle.

Here at The SportsRush, we look at some records and stats that juggled during his gritty innings.

9 batsmen have carried their bats through an innings against Pakistan. This is the second most against a side only after England (13). Before Brathwaite, the last three incidents were by Zimbawian Batsmen.

5 West Indian batsmen have carried their bats through a test innings. Brathwaite has become the fifth one to do so. The other most recent one has been Chris Gayle who did it against the mighty Australians at the Adelaide Oval back in 2009-2010.

Only once in the last 6 instances has a batsman carrying his bat resulted in a victory (for West Indies). That was by Haynes against Pakistan team back in 1992. The overall win rate is close to 25%.

Recently 3 Batsmen have carried their bat. Dean Elgar and Cheteshwar Pujara did the same last year. It is interesting to note that between January 2012 and August 2015 there was no such instance.
