2 Years After RCB Bought Him For A$888,000, Mitchell Starc Acquired Former Miss Universe's $5 Million Beach House

Just like Australia captain Pat Cummins, fast bowler Mitchell Starc has also made investments in real estate after partaking in the Indian Premier League. In fact, Starc was earning more than Cummins during their maiden season in 2014. A successful stint was followed by Starc buying a luxurious mansion more than two years after IPL 2014 auction.

There is no going into a safe house around the fact that the IPL has proved to be a life-changing event for cricketers around the world over the years. In addition to have provided an arena to players for showcasing their talent, this tournament has also rewarded them with mind-boggling money. As a result, both Indian and foreign players usually make opulent investments with their IPL money.

Starc, who had registered himself at a base price of INR 2 crore, was eventually sold at a price of INR 5 crore (approx A$888,000). Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) and Royal Challengers Bangalore had engaged in a bidding battle to acquire the services of the tall left-arm Australian pacer with the latter winning in the end.

Mitchell Starc Acquired Former Miss Universe’s $5 Million Beach House In 2016

Starc, who represented RCB for a couple of seasons between 2014-15, bought his $5,235,000 worth mansion right at the start of the Australian summer the following year. It is a five-bedroom and three-bathroom home with all contemporary world-class amenities.

This house was created in a resort-style open plan living place with a wed-edge and heated infinity swimming pool. The pool is on the terrace with a stunning ocean view. Apart from all these things, there is a built-in barbecue, a Travertine terrace, and an alfresco dining area.

The property was designed by renowned architect Koichi Takada. There is a huge wardrobe in the house along with a Miele Kitchen. For the unversed, Miele is a company that manufactures luxury home and kitchen appliances.

Interestingly, the two-year-old property was owned by former Miss Universe Australia Jennifer Hawkins before Starc. Hawkins won the coveted title in 2004 and she used to live there with her husband Jake Wall. Both of them had bought this place for a price of $1.66 million. Known as real-estate tycoons down under, they frequently buy and sell properties to make profit.

How Many Homes Does Mitchell Starc Own?

Starc and his cricketer wife Alyssa Heally are referred to as a power couple. They own around five houses on Sydney’s northern beaches. As per Realestate.com.au, the combined value of all the houses is more than $10 million. That said, the exact details of all the properties are not known.

After buying Hawkins’ home in 2016, they sold their old five-bedroom Mosman home for $5.95 million the very same year after having bought it for $4.455 million in 2014.

Why Doesn’t Mitchell Starc Play In The IPL Any Longer?

In spite of an opulent deal with Royal Challengers back in the day, Starc is one of the rare players who have refrained from participating in the cash-rich league for a long time now. It is worth of a mention that Starc missed IPL 2016 because he was recovering from a foot fracture. He parted ways with Bangalore the following year to manage his workload ahead of the Champions Trophy.

“At this point in time after a long summer and with a big tour of India [before IPL 2017] still ahead, I think it is in my best interests, both physically and mentally, for me to have a break, spend time with my family,” Starc had told ESPNCricinfo.

Starc, however, made a return during IPL 2018 auction when Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for a whopping INR 9.4 crore. However, the return was not meant to be as he could not play a single game due to another injury.

Other than injuries and workload-related reasons, spending time with his wife is also an important factor behind Starc’s elongated absence from the IPL. Both him and Alyssa play cricket throughout the year in different parts of the world. With April being a month where the couple is mostly ideal, they prefer to spend their time together.

Speaking of the recently concluded IPL 2023, Starc had mentioned that his main focus is to play 100 Tests for Australia and he has to be a smart decision-maker to achieve that personal goal. As much as Starc is missed in the biggest T20 league across the globe, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that only a contented individual can maintain distance from a grand IPL deal year-after-year.
