After winning the first test in Perth, the Australian team will be looking to win the Adelaide test to win the 2-match series against West Indies. This is a pink-ball test, and it has been seen that Adelaide Oval is the favourite pink-ball destination in Australia.

Australia have done really well in the pink-ball tests, and Adelaide has been their fortress. They bowled out India for just 36 runs here, whereas they defeated England by 275 runs in the Ashes test last year. They are the most dominating team in the day-night test matches.

Pat Cummins is ruled out of the 2nd test due to an injury, and Steve Smith will be captaining the side in his absence. Scott Boland is set to replace Cummins in the playing 11 of the Adelaide test.

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has scored the most runs on this ground. He has scored 1743 test runs at 60.10, with the help of 6 centuries and 6 half-centuries. Amongst the active players, David Warner is the highest run-scorer here, where he has scored 1153 runs at 76.86 with the help of 4 centuries and 2 half-centuries.

Apart from Warner, Steve Smith (592 runs at 53.81) and Marnus Labuschagne (369 runs at 73.80) are the current two active players in the highest run-scorers list.

Nathan Lyon and Shane Warne are the highest wicket-takers at this ground with 56 wickets each. Amongst the current lot of players, Mitchell Starc (39 wickets) and Josh Hazlewood (32 wickets) are at the 2nd and 3rd position, respectively. In pink ball tests, the pacers have dominated more than the spinners.

Highest Test innings totals at Adelaide Oval

The highest innings test total in Adelaide was made way back in 1948 by Australia against India. Australia’s playing eleven was full of superstars batters, and they proved their very class in that match. They scored a massive total of 674 runs in the first innings, which is the highest to date.

Sir Donald Bradman scored a double century for the hosts, whereas Arthur Hassett and Sidney Barnes scored their respective centuries. Keith Miller also scored a half-century.
