Batting for the second time this season, Dhoni had come out to bat at No. 7 in the 14th over. Having spent four overs in the middle, Dhoni departed after scoring an impact-less 18 (17) comprising of a couple of boundaries.

It was in the 18th over when Dhoni tried to play a big shot against Rajasthan Royals pacer Chetan Sakariya but ended up mis-timing the ball to Jos Buttler at cover.

After Royals captain Samson won the toss and chose to field, Super Kings scored a competitive 188/9 in 20 overs. Been their top-scorer tonight, opening batsman Faf du Plessis had made optimum use of the powerplay by scoring 33 (17) with the help of four fours and two sixes.

With bowling figures of 4-0-36-3, Sakariya was the pick of the Royals’ bowlers and was well accompanied by all-rounder Chris Morris who picked a couple of wickets in his four overs.
