Gabba Test: Ajinkya Rahane hilariously opts against DRS despite Rishabh Pant's desperate attempt

Ajinkya Rahane hilariously opts against DRS: The Indian captain was involved in an amusing incident with his deputy and wicket-keeper.

During the first day of the fourth Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Brisbane, India captain Ajinkya Rahane and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant were involved in an amusing incident in the third session.

It all happened on the third delivery of the 84th over when Australia captain Tim Paine played and missed a T. Natarajan delivery outside the off-stump.

Pant, who gave the impression of hearing a sound as the ball passed the bat, was seen pleading desperately to convince Rahane regarding opting for a DRS.

Rahane, who was fielding at gully, didn’t much heed to Pant’s futile attempts which resulted in Rahane, his vice-captain Rohit Sharma (second slip) and batsman Cheteshwar Pujara (first slip) having a laugh around the wicket-keeper.

After reserve batsman Prithvi Shaw threw a ball into Sharma in the second session, it was the second time today that the Indian vice-captain was involved in a hilarious on-field incident.

It was Paine who had won the toss and elected to bat in the morning. On the back of batsman Marnus Labuschagne scoring 108 (204) with the help of nine fours, Australia scored 274/5 in 87 overs at Stumps on Day 1. With bowling figures of 20-2-63-2, debutant India fast bowler T. Natarajan was the pick of their bowlers.
