Highest Individual Score by Indian in IPL History

Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill‘s fifth T20 century, a career-best knock, has powered him to the second spot on the list of highest individual score by an Indian cricketer in IPL history. Gill, who has scored as many as three IPL centuries in the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League, bettered the likes of Rishabh Pant, Murali Vijay and Yashasvi Jaiswal in this aspect.

Much like Gill, Rajasthan Royals‘ Jaiswal also played a career-best IPL knock in IPL 2023. Even though Indian batters dominate quite a few batting records as far as the biggest T20 league around the world is concerned, all the Top Four highest individual scores have been registered by overseas batters.

Gill, who fell short by just four runs, could’ve easily surpassed Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul‘s record IPL score among Indian batters. As a matter of fact, the 23-year old player could’ve also challenged one of the highest individual scores considering how he was dismissed with 19 balls remaining in Titans’ innings during the recently concluded IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad.

Gill, who is in the middle of an earth-shattering IPL season, has definitely improved drastically as far as his six-hitting ability is concerned. Having never hit more than 12 sixes throughout an IPL season previously, he has already hit 33 sixes with an IPL 2023 match still to be played.

“I think this was probably my best innings so far in the IPL,” Gill told host broadcaster Star Sports Network after winning the Player of the Match award for a reason tonight. With several records up for grabs both on both a personal and a team level during the final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the right-handed batter would be keen to finish the season on a high note.

The optimist in him is waiting for the day when Punjab Kings will win their maiden Indian Premier League title. When not watching cricket, he is mostly found in a cinema hall watching a Punjabi movie.
