New South Wales’ border city of Albury couldn’t have ended the year on a better note than hosting a Big Bash League match for the first time in the 12-year long history of the tournament.

One of the 17 BBL 2022-23 venues, the regional town will host an afternoon fixture as its solitary match of the season which will witness Sydney Thunder hosting Hobart Hurricanes. ST’s fourth home match will be HH’s third match of the season at outside of home.
Placed in the bottom half of the points table, Thunder are at the fifth position after winning and losing three matches each out of the six that they’ve played this year. Hurricanes, on the other hand, are at a position below Thunder on the back of winning and losing a couple of matches each out of the four that they’ve played thus far.
Lavington Sports Ground T20 records
Lavington Sports Oval, whose lone international match had been played during the Cricket World Cup three decades ago, will be hosting a Men’s T20 for the first time in less than an hour from now.
As a result, there are no T20 records for this venue. Having said that, Albury had hosted a couple of Women’s Big Bash League matches over half-a-decade ago.

Both Sydney Thunder Women vs Melbourne Stars Women matches had resulted in victories for the home team. Co-incidentally, Thunder had won both the matches by 8 wickets making Albury as a preferable chasing venue in spite of the minuscule sample size.
Highest innings totals in Albury T20s
Although it is not entirely advisable to compare records between Men’s and Women’s cricket, lack of option in this particular case can be considered as an exception.

A common trait between both the Women’s BBL matches over here was the presence of low-scoring one-sided encounters. It is worth a mention that Thunder had chased down 117 and 115-run targets with seven and 33 balls remaining in the matches respectively. 121/2 in 18.5 overs by the hosts was the highest innings totals and highest successful run-chase in those two matches.
