Sydney Showground Stadium weather 27 January: Spotless Stadium weather forecast for THU vs HEA BBL 12 Eliminator

Sydney Thunder and Brisbane Heat will be clashing in the first match of the qualifying round of Big Bash League 2022-23 in Sydney on Friday. Fourth and fifth-ranked teams on BBL 12 ladder respectively, Thunder and Heat won’t receive any more second chances. Therefore, a loss on Friday will result in the end of season for one of these two teams.

While Thunder won and lost (including registering the two lowest innings totals of the season) seven matches each to end up with 14 points, Heat won six and lost seven matches to finish the league stage with 13 points. Although Hobart Hurricanes also had the same number of victories as Heat but the latter being part of a rain-abandoned match helped their case with respect to gaining an extra point.

As far as the previous head-to-head records between these two teams are concerned, Sydney have won seven matches in comparison to Brisbane’s 10 victories over the years. Having said that, the same doesn’t get reflected in the last five matches between these two teams where ST have won four as compared to BH’s lone win.

Sydney Showground Stadium weather

Post the conclusion of “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” in Sydney for the next two hours, rain is expected to make its presence felt in the city around midnight. Tried and tested weather portal AccuWeather predicts rain probability to be around 50% till about tomorrow afternoon.

It will only be around some 3-4 hours before the match start time when the rain probability will reduce 40%. Subsequently, the number will continue to fall to be around 25% around the time of the bat flip.

Even if rain delays the bat flip or the scheduled start of the match by some time, a major relief for all the stakeholders is that the number will not only drop to a single-digit figure but remain the same way for the remainder of the night tomorrow.
