EG is set to face off against PRX in the Lower Bracket Finals of VCT Masters Tokyo. The winner of this match goes on to face Fnatic in the Grand Final. All eyes will be on star players from both teams that look to take their team to the finish line.

Evil Geniuses have had a dream run in this Masters Tournament. Firstly, even before they got here, they lucked out because MIBR defeated 100T in the Americas League. Second, their star Duelist, Demon1 wasn’t supposed to make Tokyo. However, he was present a couple of days before their first match. Since these events, EG has been unstoppable, beating fan-favorite teams quite easily.

They did not just beat them, they destroyed them by winning every match 2-0. People had doubts about PRX on the other hand due to their star Duelist missing out on the tournament due to visa issues. However, they have held their own and made it to the Lower Bracket Finals. This match will decide the Top 2 of VCT Masters Tokyo. Let’s break it down.

VCT Masters Tokyo LB Finals: Evil Geniuses vs Paper Rex; Who Will Win?

Paper Rex has looked dominant despite them having a substitute playing instead of Ilya ‘something‘ Petrov. They have managed to stop the bleeding during crucial points in their matches and have bounced back with vigor. Standing against them is the NA Team Evil Geniuses who have had a Cinderella run these past few months in Competitive Valorant.

EG’s teamwork has reached newer heights not only due to the synergy of their composition but also how they play off of each other’s utility usage. Their entry-fragging potential is lethal and they have continued to nail down timings for each site hits and retakes. They are no strangers to hero plays either. We have seen heroics by almost everyone on their roster in this tournament. But there can only be one winner.

Paper Rex has played four matches in the tournament so far while Evil Geniuses have played five. PRX got the top seed from the Pacific Region which got them directly into the play-offs. EG on the other hand had to fight for it.

That being said, EG has had a near-perfect run in Masters Tokyo; losing only to Fnatic 2-1. They beat Team Liquid, LOUD, FUT, and DRX 2-0 in the four matches they won. PRX on the other hand won 2-0 against DRX in the Upper Brackets.

They lost 0-2 to Fnatic and then beat EDG and NRG respectively, with a scoreline of 2-1 to get to the Lower Bracket Finals.

Predictions

Both teams have looked solid in the matches leading up to this showdown as we saw in the section above. However, something has to give in this match. Evil Geniuses have looked solid in this run right from their teamwork to the utility usage.

Paper Rex on the other hand has done well too. The only problem is that it takes them some time to activate and play up to their standards. Those delays caused them to go Map 3 with 2 of the three teams they faced in this event. Although that should not be a major concern as it will be a Best of Five.

Putting all of it together we think Evil Geniuses might have the upper hand on this one due to their team compositions and contact plays. Although it would be foolish to count PRX out of the match. The upper hand for this match would definitely be Evil Geniuses because they have faced the toughest opponents out of all the regions and beat them flawlessly.

However, this is the first time these two teams will face each other so expect some theatrics from both sides.
