“Brad Pitt Got a Superlicense Before Me”: Fans Bemused as $400 Million Worth Star Gets Ready to Drive “Actual F1 Car” at Silverstone

Lewis Hamilton is producing a movie about F1, that will star Brad Pitt, who is one of the most popular actors in the world and it has fans all over the world excited. The shooting for this film is set to begin in Silverstone in the coming British GP weekend, and according to recent reports, Pitt is gearing up to drive a real F1 car.

The news about Pitt, who is worth $400 million, driving an actual Formula 1 car came out on Thursday, and fans are bemused. As reported by ESPN, Pitt will drive the car alongside the existing 20 drivers in F1, with movie directors Jerry Bruckheimer and Joseph Kosinski helping set up an “11th team” for the rest of the season.

As expected, there were mixed reactions to this news, with memes appearing all over social media since it broke out. The fact that someone who has no experience in motorsports will get to drive an actual F1 car has led to fans believing that the 59-year-old will mess up proceedings if he’s on the track with other drivers.

IndyCar star Colton Herta, who applied for an F1 supervise last year, but had it rejected, didn’t take the news too kindly. Herta took a dig at Pitt and the FIA by writing on his Twitter, “Brad Pitt got a super license before me, tough”.

F1 community reacts to news of Brad Pitt driving an actual F1 car

News about Pitt being behind the wheels of an actual F1 car, alongside the other drivers in actual Grand Prix weekend surprised fans. Pitt has no experience in single-seater motorsports, which would make it difficult for him to jump into an F1 car and perform optimally, even with a couple of months of training.

“It cannot be safe to put someone who has almost no experience racing single-seaters on a track with the F1 drivers?” a user named Jo wrote on Twitter.

On top of the doubts surrounding Pitt’s actual performance, fans are also worried about him crashing. Handling an F1 car isn’t easy, and if he isn’t careful while out on track with the other 20 drivers including his movie’s producer, Lewis Hamilton, Pitt could be involved in some serious accidents.

Former F2 driver Juan Manuel Correa too, took to Twitter to banter about the entire situation. Correa jokingly asked if Pitt was looking for a teammate for the British GP weekend.

Will Pitt actually compete against other F1 stars?

The British GP weekend will go ahead as planned for F1 drivers, and they don’t have to share the track with Pitt when they are in the middle of their sessions. As per The RacePitt won’t actually be driving a proper Formula 1 car like the other 20 drivers.

Instead, the two-time Academy Award winner will drive a specially modified Formula 2 car. He also won’t be out on track with the other F1 drivers at the time of filming, which will be done in between the sessions.

It seems as though for fans who travel to Silverstone for the British GP this year, there won’t be a dull moment, as even in between sessions, Brad Pitt driving an F1 car will keep them entertained.
