Daniel Ricciardo Ready to Sit In Producer's Chair With Latest Update On Hulu F1 Show

Daniel Ricciardo has taken some well-earned time off from F1, after a series of taxing seasons with McLaren. A jolly old fellow at Red Bull, his home team have given him the liberties and freedom to do what he wants in this sabbatical, with the side hustle of being their reserve driver.

Keeping busy riding dirt bikes and promoting his wine, while putting in the hours on the simulator in Milton Keynes, Ricciardo also gets ready for his role as executive producer on a Hulu show. In what will be a scripted show on F1, Ricciardo hasn’t revealed much about the storyline, but as the wheels get turning on his latest project, the excited Aussie provides an update.

Daniel Ricciardo spills the beans on his Hulu series

Having announced this passion project early last year, Ricciardo disclosed during the Australian GP that things are going “full steam ahead.” Excited about what is to come in this massive project, Ricciardo also added, “It’s good, I’m enjoying it.”

Without disclosing much, the Honey Badger also revealed that casting for the show will begin soon. “It’s given me a chance to reshape a bit of my structure.” Ricciardo looks to make full use of his year off, focusing on his own personal ventures, that would have otherwise gotten lost in the noise.

However, Ricciardo faces competition. First, from the very own Lewis Hamilton, who has managed to build insurmountable hype around his F1 movie with Brad Pitt with Apple Studios. Further, Drive to Survive continues its pursuit with Netflix; the streaming giant also working on a bipic on the legend of Ayrton Senna.

Endless content for F1 fans, who now sigh at the sight of Red Bull on the top step of the podium. If the on-track action gets boring, there’s surely a plethora of entertainment waiting on the side.

Ricciardo draws inspiration from Dwayne Johnson

A comedic take on NFL culture, Dwayne Johnson’s “Ballers” was a tremendous success for HBO. With his show, Ricciardo aims for “that sort of vibe.”

However, he doesn’t want discussions about the series to be about him. Ricciardo explained, “Yes I’ll be putting my name to this and I will work behind the scenes with it, but I also don’t want it to be like ‘hey, this is Daniel Ricciardo’. I’m just going to be there kind of as a fan in the background trying to lend some light.”

Regardless of the name, as the jokester of the paddock, and with over a decade’s worth of experience- the bar is set high for what looks like an exciting show in the making.
