"Even then he did well compared to Max"– Felipe Massa

“Even then he did well compared to Max”– Felipe Massa praises Carlos Sainz after his recent podium in Monaco with Ferrari.

Even with his limitations with the Ferrari car, Carlos Sainz managed to give a stiff competition to max Verstappen till the final few laps of the race in Monaco and bagged the P2 for his team.

Former Ferrari man Felipe Massa has now stepped in to praise the Spaniard and claimed that he had supported him since the beginning, even when he was in Toro Rosso with Verstappen.

“I’ve always appreciated him, ever since he debuted in F1,” Massa stated in conversation with Sky Italia. “He has always been there, even in his first year when he had to compete with then teammate Verstappen.”

“Even then he did well compared to Max, while we all know that Max, is Max. Still, Sainz was able to do the battle then.”

Performing great for Ferrari

Massa has now given Sainz a perfect score for his start at Ferrari, and with it, he feels the complete picture of Ferrari is well, as Sainz also has a partner like Charles Leclerc.

“He fits well with the team from Maranello and he has to keep dreaming of the highest achievable now as well. As a driver you have to keep on believing.”

“In Charles Leclerc he has an excellent teammate, who has a bright future ahead of him. That completes the picture for Ferrari,” he concluded.

Despite Ferrari having a recovery year, it is quite ironic that Sainz is having a better season at Ferrari in his first season than the new drivers of Red Bull, McLaren, Alpine, and Aston Martin– Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel.

All of them have been inconsistent with their new cars, while Sainz also like them shifted to a new power unit and chassis.
