“He’s a very good driver” – Lando Norris reveals driver he expects to make a sensational comeback in 2022
“He’s a very good driver” – Lando Norris reveals the driver he expects to make a sensational return to the grid in 2022.
Formula 1 is a ruthless place, where every performance is scrutinized carefully and hard. In some cases, though, even the deserving miss out, like how Sergio Perez was booted out of Racing Point/Aston Martin. Nico Hulkenberg is another example of a driver better than quite a few in the current grid, but without a drive. As for Lando Norris, his friend Alex Albon deserves a ‘full’ seat back in Formula 1.
“Formula 1 can be a very hard world and we’re seeing that again. It’s difficult because I’m good friends with Alex. We get along well and have always had good conversations, although we haven’t actually talked much about Red Bull. I’m sorry for him, he’s a very good driver.
“It’s hard – it just goes to show again how hard Formula 1 can be. It can even happen to an extremely good driver. He beat everyone in all the junior categories, but once you’re in Formula 1 it’s all different – just a bit more competitive. It can be a very unfair world. You can lose your spot just like that and it’s all over as quickly as it started.”

Lando Norris thinks Albon can replace Verstappen or Perez in Red Bull
Norris also expressed confidence that Albon will do anything to get back his F1 seat. He is currently the reserve driver of Red Bull and will compete in the DTM series. As to his comeback, it remains to be seen how is that possible, with Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez expected to form the strongest Red Bull partnership since Sebastian Vettel-Mark Webber.
“I don’t know what to say about it. I like Alex and have a lot of respect for him. It’s a shame he lost his seat but I’m sure he’s going to do everything he can to fight back and get back into F1.”
