“But 2020 has been a satisfying year for me. It’s been the best year since I started racing, and my childhood dreams have come true, so I feel like I’m a little behind.”
“When the pandemic began, many countries had almost complete lockdowns. In that situation, sports were, of course, not a priority. The second season in F2 was postponed by one year and F1 I was worried that my dream of running in Formula 1 would be postponed.”
Inevitable expectations
Among the three rookie drivers getting promotion this year. Schumacher is expected to work under the most amount of pressure for the most obvious reasons.
Firstly, he is the F2 champion in 2020 and secondly, he is the son of probably the greatest F1 driver ever to grace the competition. True, Schumacher is born with a silver spoon, and his title has helped him grow.
However, at the same time, it’s baggage to which will be hard to overcome, when millions would be witnessing you for 23 weeks this year. On the other hand, Ferrari’s continuous revelations regarding their plan with Mick have further drawn a perspective of him being a Ferrari prince, and a failure would be struck even harder under such expectations.
