"That was an old go-kart track trick"– Christian Horner spots Max Verstappen's karting skill on Lando Norris

“That was an old go-kart track trick”– Christian Horner reveals the go-karting skill applied by Max Verstappen on McLaren’s Lando Norris.

Red Bull would be delighted to have the lead against Mercedes on both fronts this year, but the Milton-Keynes-based team has found a new threat from some other source– McLaren.

Lando Norris on Sunday was super-quick and managed to grab a P3, his third podium this year. The Briton was at one moment was also challenging Max Verstappen, but the Dutchman defended well, and Christian Horner claims that it was a sublime go-kart trick.

“Max drove a flawless race”, quote Motorsport-Total.com. “He didn’t put a single wheel wrong. He led every lap and drove the fastest lap. It was a very clean race from him”, the Red Bull team boss jubilates.

“It was important to keep Lando behind us because he knew Lando was lightning fast on the straights. You can see Max moving when they went into turn three to break the slipstream. That was an old go-kart track trick.”

Silverstone would be tough for Red Bull

Silverstone in the last seven years has been Mercedes’ fortress, with hamilton ruling amidst his own countrymen. Thus, it is natural that Red Bull is worried about Mercedes striking back there.

“Mercedes have been so strong at Silverstone for the last seven years, they will be mighty there. The British fans who will be cheering Lewis on will give him extra fuel in the tank,” said Horner.

Verstappen’s last year’s win at the Silverstone during the 70th anniversary Grand Prix should serve as a motivation, but the introduction of the sprint races in F1 may create uncertainty for them.

“That will also create a different dynamic, if we can bring the momentum to Silverstone, then there’s nothing to be afraid of.”
