Federer’s stunning shot vs Kyrgios: ‘Almost unreal’, says the Australian
Roger Federer’s stunning shot vs Kyrgios has left the people across the internet in awe, with Kyrgios himself declaring it ‘unreal’.
Roger Federer met Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios in the third round of US Open 2018. The two may have had intense tennis matches in the past, but the Swiss cruised past Kyrgios this time, winning the match in straight sets.
Federer won the match 6-4 6-1 7-5 and will meet another Australian, John Millman in the round-of-16.
Kyrgios gave Federer an early scare, leading the first set 3-0. The Swiss bounced back hard to make it 5-4 and eventually take a one-set lead. Kyrgios failed to replicate his initial few minutes of play in the rest of the match.
The highlight of the match, however, came in the third set, and it is likely to remain in the memories of tennis fans for long. Kyrgios was leading 4-3, and gave away a point. He played a drop shot, and Federer chased it down to the very end, and sent the ball across the net to win the point.
Kyrgios was left stunned by the effort Federer put in to send the ball across and the crowd stood up for the Swiss tennis star. Kyrgios fought back to hold on his serve, but eventually lost the set and the match.

“Almost unreal,” said Nick Kyrgios, who was visibly stunned in admiration for the terrific effort from Federer.
“A special one, no doubt about it,” stated Federer. “Yeah, definitely the around-the-pole shot was unique, it can only happen in a bigger court where you play with the singles net. Other big shots I remember, with Andy (Roddick), the counter-smash, and of course the between-the-legs here with Novak (Djokovic),” he added.
