Full List Of Rescheduled Fixtures In The Wake Of Hastily Arranged Showdown Between Tottenham And Fulham: A bevy of matches have had to be reworked following the Premier League’s decision
With Aston Villa’s entire senior setup going into isolation earlier last week after ten players took under the weather with Coronavirus, the side’s Premier League fixtures were always going to be up in the air.
Although the side fulfilled its FA Cup obligations by sending out its young setup for the third round tie against Liverpool, the club was unlikely to do the same in the Premier League. And the same has unfolded with the club requesting the league to postpone its upcoming outing against Tottenham.
Tottenham To Play Fulham Midweek
The league has been willing to accommodate the club’s request as well seeing the severity of the outbreak in the team’s ranks. Subsequently, the Premier League has decided to pair Tottenham with Fulham in the forthcoming gameweek rather than giving Tottenham a break.
“Aston Villa’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, due to be played at Villa Park on Wednesday 13 January, has been rescheduled following a decision by the Premier League Board,” read a statement by the Premier League.
“Following Aston Villa’s request to rearrange the fixture, and due to the number of players and staff who have either tested positive for COVID-19 or have been placed in isolation by the club, the Premier League had no other option than to reschedule the game.
“With the health of players and staff the priority, the League continues to work with Aston Villa on measures to ensure their League season resumes safely and at the earliest opportunity.
“The Premier League wishes those with COVID-19 a full and swift recovery and will rearrange Aston Villa’s game against Tottenham Hotspur as soon as possible.”
